Well, the show last night was awesome. Great energy and atmosphere. Really enjoyed their performance and the sound was actually quite good for the Phoenix. I have heard some shows there and it has been brutal...last night was not the case!

 

Don't remember the setlist - hopefully someone else will post it.

Yes yes, was a great show, as always. :)

Set list as I remember it was all of Welcome To The Night Sky, except for maybe Astronaut, I don't remember them playing Astronaut.
As well as - Orca, Sore & Caliber (I was so excited for those three especially), Faithful Guide, Nerves, Jaws, Danse Macabre...
That's all I can remember.

that's a great song. i had a friend who said the show was really amazing.

Miasmal Smoke & The Yellow Bellied Freaks would be the most kick ass show opener in the world.
I really hope someday I get to see them open with it.

I'm not sure if they've ever done this before, or if they just started opening with it for this leg, but the boys need to stick with it.

I first saw Wintersleep in  front of a good crowd at a small bar in Halifax three years ago. They were very good. I saw them again in Halifax at the Cunard Centre and despite the quality of the sound, the show was excellent. This show at the Phoenix took the next step to greatness. They are an intense and exciting band to see live. The performance of Nerves Normal Breaths Normal was off the chart. I have seen thousands of concerts in my time and this one entered the top five on my list. We should all be greatful to have seen this band in this venue as they will play to larger and larger crowds until they are the next big act.

I would also put the Phoenix show in my top 5, I think. I've seen countless wintersleep shows in my day and this one really takes the cake. How cool is it when a band that you have seen a million times over a 5 or 6 year period can still surprise you like that?!

Yeah I loved the fact they started the set off with Miasmal ... the other time I saw them do that was at the Mercury Lounge in NYC in Feb 2007.

isn't that awesome?  i've seen Pearl Jam 11 times, and the last show was the best one yet!  :)

Wintersleep at the Pheonix was only my 5th (so far :)) and although it was fantastic, it eeked in at #2, just under the Hamilton show at The Casbah...  :)

I'm happy to report that the friend to took with me to both the Horseshoe and Phoenix shows has admitted that she is officially "converted" ....  yes!  :)

I'm gonna have to agree, the show at The Casbah tops the one at The Phoenix for me. It was just completely unreal, and I think it helps that that was my first time seeing them, and I was right in front.
Both, and the one at The Starlight Lounge in Waterloo, were all spectacular though.
I can't wait to see them for a 4th (5th...100th) time.
