Re: what you listen to when not listening to Wintersleep?
What's Band of Horses, Brian Borcherdt and Ladyhawk like? Oh and nice call on Gogol and The National.
The bands I probably listen to the most, discluding Wintersleep would be: Acid Bath, Alexisonfire, Andrew W.K., Animal Collective, Apostle of Hustle, Arcade Fire, Attack in Black, Audioslave, Belle & Sebastian, Beta Band, Big Sugar, Black Light Burns, Black Mountain, Blues Brothers, Bob Dylan, Brant Bjork, Captain Beefheart, Crippled Black Phoenix, Daniel Johnston/Danny & the Nightmares, David Bowie, Do Make Say Think, dredg, Dropkick Muphys, Elton John, Explosions in the Sky, Flaming Lips, Flight of the Conchords, Flogging Molly, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Grady, Gutter Twins, I Mother Earth, Isis, Justice, Mark Lanegan, Mars Volta, Matt Good, Metric, Modest Mouse, Mogwai, Mono, Muse, Neverending White Lights, Opeth, Our Lady Peace, Queens of the Stone Age, R.E.M., Raine Maida, Red Sparowes, Sam Roberts, Sigur Ros, Silver Mt. Zion, Smashing Pumpkins, Sparta, Sunn O))), Supertramp, Tea Party, Tenacious D, Tom Waits, Tool, Tragically Hip, Vampire Weekend, The Veils, Velvet Underground, Von Bondies, Ween, Wolf Parade, Woodpigeon, 10 Years. Anyways, those are the ones that frequent what I listen to, at least for the last couple months, definitely not for the whole timeline of my music obsession. I think last time I checked iTunes on my home computer that has everything in it, it said I had something like over 400 bands (all full albums) and my iPod says I have 14721 songs. So it becomes pretty difficult to answer what I listen to when it's not Wintersleep.

i've been listening to a lot of post-rock lately such as:

Supernewman: What's Band of Horses, Brian Borcherdt and Ladyhawk like? Oh and nice call on Gogol and The National.
Thanks, you got some good stuff in there yourself. Brian Borcherdt actually sounds a bit like Wintersleep, he was part of Dependent records as well. He's in Holy F uck and Hot Carl Loves the Ladies as well, and a former member of Trephines, By Divine Right and Junior Blue. You should check him out. I prefer Paul Murphy's voice over his though. Band of Horses is a pretty good US band, kind of countryish indie-sounding... they had a couple hits, most notably "The Funeral" and "Is There a Ghost". The former has appeared quite a few times in various TV shows and commercials. Ladyhawk is even better (one of my favorite bands), they're BC-based and they're a bit more southern rock sounding. As with a lot of similar bands they draw comparisons to Neil Young with Crazy Horse. They have also worked & toured with and are quite close with Black Mountain. They recently toured with Constantines, and I guess you could say they share a little bit of the same feel. Another band/artist they seem to sound a lot like is Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson. I'm actually seeing Ladyhawk this friday, really looking forward to it because I was at a Matt Good concert the night they came here with Constantines...would've killed to see that show...haha, I've seen MG before but neither of those bands.

Haven't heard Attack in Black... The show's being advertised as Ladyhawk with Attack in Black, so I assumed Ladyhawk were the headliners. Don't know for sure though, but I will be sorely disappointed if they're only the opener.

Excuse me, sir, but did you say Shun? Love those guys! Have you listened to any of the other bands some of the members have been apart of since Shun's demise? As far as my list - Ranges from Eazy E and rap to Charles Mingus and jazz. Lately, I've been listening to pretty much nothing but Small Stone Records stuff.

Yeah Attack In Black was pretty good. I didn't like the guy's voice so much but they played well and had some good tunes. Ladyhawk was really really great but for some reason the show seemed pretty short. I guess that's what you get with 3 bands playing on one night. I like how they didn't really wait to come back on for the encore, seems a lot of bands forgo the long wait these days.
